This policy explains what personal information SearchLimelight collects, why, where it goes, and what you can ask us to do with it. We’ve written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email info@searchlimelight.com and we’ll explain.
Who we are
SearchLimelight is a search and AI-visibility agency based in Cape Town, South Africa. SearchLimelight is a trading name of Olsafe (Pty) Ltd (registration number K2020279393), 12 Barrington Road, Observatory, Cape Town, Western Cape, 7925.
We are the “responsible party” (under South Africa’s POPIA) and the “controller” (under the UK and EU GDPR) for the personal information described here. Our Information Officer is Bantu Nonyukela, reachable at info@searchlimelight.com.
What we collect
When you request a free visibility score or claim your free audit
- Your name, work email and business name
- Your website and main market
- Your phone number, if you choose to give it
- Which free audit you’d like (AI Visibility & GEO, SEO, or Local Business SEO)
- Anything you tell us about what your customers search for
- The page you submitted the form from, the date and time, and your IP address (recorded automatically by our form system)
When you subscribe to our newsletter
- Your email address, the page you signed up on, the date and time, and your IP address
When you book a discovery call
Bookings run through Cal.com. Cal.com collects your name, email address, time zone and any answers you give on the booking page, and adds the call to our calendar with a Google Meet link. Cal.com and Google handle that information under their own privacy policies. We receive the booking details so we can hold the call.
When you contact us directly
If you email us or message us on WhatsApp, we keep that conversation and your contact details so we can reply and follow up. WhatsApp is operated by Meta under its own privacy policy.
When you become a client
We keep the details needed to deliver and invoice the work, such as contacts, billing details, agreements, and any access you grant us to your website, Google Business Profile, Search Console or analytics.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t buy lists.
- Our website fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading our pages doesn’t send your details to Google Fonts.
- We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If you request a free score but don’t subscribe to the newsletter, we’ll only email you about your score, your audit and the call. We won’t add you to our marketing emails.
Running your visibility check
To check how AI engines describe your business, we enter your business name, website, market and the kinds of searches your customers make into public AI and search tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google. We don’t enter your personal contact details into those tools.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the business. They only process your information to provide their service to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights in a dispute.
Sending information outside South Africa
Some of these providers, including Hostinger, Cal.com, Google and Meta, process information outside South Africa. Where they do, we rely on their contractual commitments and data-protection terms to keep your information protected to a standard comparable to POPIA (and, for UK and EU visitors, to the GDPR’s transfer rules).
Cookies and analytics
Our site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress sets essential cookies only if you log in to the site’s admin area.
Our emails may record when they’re opened and which links are clicked, so we know what’s useful. You can avoid this by turning off images in your email app, or by unsubscribing.
How long we keep it
- Free-score and audit requests that don’t become clients: 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email on a suppression list, so we never email you again by mistake.
- Clients: for the length of our work together, and financial records for 5 years afterwards, as South African tax law requires.
How we protect it
Our site runs over HTTPS. Access to our website admin and contact database is limited to us and protected by strong, unique passwords. Forms include spam protection, and we keep the software up to date. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct information that’s wrong or out of date
- delete your information (unless we must keep it by law)
- stop using it for marketing (the unsubscribe link in every newsletter does this instantly)
- object to, or restrict, other uses
Email info@searchlimelight.com. We’ll reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity first. There’s no charge for reasonable requests.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can fix it. You also have the right to complain to a regulator:

Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we’ll also email the people it affects.
